When I ask new clients if they've had a kinesiology session before they often reply “Yes a long time ago, I felt better but I didn't really know what was going on”
So what “goes on” in a kinesiology session
If you see a kinesiologist they will use muscle testing (if no muscle testing is used, its not kinesiology).
Muscle testing is a technique where a light pressure is applied to your arm (though any muscle can be tested) and your arm will either stay strong or move under the pressure
Kinesiologists use an indicator muscle to get information about whats going on (see pic below where I'm using the indicator muscle on Jess)
The body will give accurate information via the nervous system to understand the core issue is and how to resolve it. Our conscious minds tend to go around in circles trying to "figure out" what's going on within us and what the solution is.
If the muscles in the arm are in homeostasis (aka working fine, the brain and body are communicating with no problem) the arm will hold up.
There are many schools of kinesiology and varying ways of working with muscle testing. This means that if you see more than one kinesiologist they may do things differently. My intention is that you know how I work so you can decide if this way is for you!
Here's an example of what goes on in a kinesiology session (not a real client or session): Sam is having trouble focusing at work and cant get anything done and is getting super anxious by the day.
Sam thinks she just needs to stop getting distracted & keep her attention on her work which is true yet she finds this difficult, almost impossible! and is in the pattern of being distracted, becoming more and more anxious, losing trust in herself and her ability to "do life".
After we've talked about why Sam has come for a session, she gets on the massage table face up. I ask Sam’s body via the muscle testing what is relevant to the issue and how she wants to feel (she wants to feel focused at work)
I ask the body if this issue is related to an emotional state, a structural issue with the body, a biochemical issue, psychological issue (how she’s thinking and what she believes) or energetic issue with the energy body.
We discover that the priority aspect to work on is an emotional state e.g. fear. I talk to Sam about how fear may be related to her not focusing at work.
Through our discussion and accessing information through muscle testing we uncover that Sam had a car accident 6 months ago and since then has trouble focusing on anything! the accident was a shock and ever since she's felt like she's always on alert. She didn't notice it so much at home or when socialising because she didn't have so much pressure to get stuff done. Sam thought it was because she's lost interest in her job.
With this new awareness we can ask the body what it needs to relax again and release the shock.
Sam’s goal of “Its easy to focus at work” becomes her reality because her body, mind and spirit are relaxed and no longer in fear.
Something may shock Sam again but now she has the awareness of how she feels fear in her body and know what its about, this helps Sam to feel empowered to know what her body’s messages are!
This is simply one example but the point is that kinesiology can help you get to what really needs to change within you which is hard to get to with usual thinking and talking about it.
Through my work I have found that all sessions have an importance on an emotion that needs to be connected with.
We aren't always great at expressing our emotions that come from our experiences. We don't fully process what happens in our lives on all levels and therefore our past stuff is often locked in our system & have an impact on our life
Many of us have trouble with expressing ourselves with other people and feel uncomfortable with emotions.
All emotions are valid. There are no right or wrong, good or bad emotions, they are just emotions (energy).
We stuff away our emotions only to find they get triggered again later by a different person, event, or situation & get in the way of having great relationships and new life experiences.
Imagine if you were ok to express and feel whatever is going on for you without pushing it away…
Kinesiology is a process of empowering you to understand your inner world, to be ok with whatever you feel, be resilient in your life knowing you can get through anything, external situations don't have to change how you feel about yourself on a deeper level.
So what goes on in a kinesiology session? connecting you with you! and feeling at peace within yourself so that you can enjoy your life more, have more fulfilling relationships and begin creating what you want rather than experiencing the same stuff over and over!
Kinesiology helps with any stress you're experiencing, in any aspect of your life.
Some techniques I use to restore balance (there are loads!):
If we determine that your body needs extra support, I will refer you to suitable practitioners such as a GP, herbalist, nutritional support, acupuncture, Bowen therapy, etc.
Kinesiology works brilliantly along side other modalities to support you on all levels so you can feel how you want to feel.
My wish is that Kinesiology is not a confusing modality, that you know what to expect and whats going on through your session.
I am committed to making your session empowering for you, to guide you to understand your body mind and spirit so that you can see life as a wonderful adventure rather than a string of stressful events!

I faked it, I faked life, I faked me. Why? because I didn't know any better, I didn't know another way until I discovered it for myself.
I did my best to be the image of the person who was loveable and acceptable (aka the socially accepted as attractive woman, not too sexy, not too boring, not too loud, not too quiet, not too opinionated yet confident, mixed with 100% people pleaser. That’s what everyone likes right?)
To top off it off, I was working as a food scientist in a lab, flavouring food with chemicals to trick people into thinking they were eating the real thing. I created fake garbage food and I felt like garbage.
The day I found myself napping in my car at lunch time because I felt so sick was the day I decided I couldn't do it anymore, something clicked, I heard my soul speak telling me, I had to make a change.
I quit the job, I followed my intuition and it opened to me, I finally got it, I could do what my heart desired! It was my choice… period.
Why do we pretend? why do we be who we think we should be rather than who we want to be?
I believe its because we want to be loved, since the moment were born, we need it, we must have it to survive, we will do anything to get it and we think we need to be a certain way to get it.
When we change who we are to try and get love, were ironically creating layers of disconnection to the love within for ourselves.
So I faked it and then I broke it, all those damn layers of disconnection to the real me inside, some layers hard and stubborn, some layers fine and brittle.
Don’t get me wrong, I didn't shift my thoughts, emotions and beliefs overnight, it took me YEARS to fully love and accept who I am regardless. I kept coming back to what was loving to me, I realised that I couldn’t connect with people if they were being fake & I couldn’t expect them to feel connection to me or to feel connection to myself!
I’m my number 1 fan now but I still have moments of doubt, sabotage, fear, shame, discontentment but the difference is I know that its not who I am, its just how I temporarily feel about me.
To know your worth and feel it more often than not takes determination, skill and commitment.
Three ways to let go of who you think you should be and embrace who you are:
I believe that you have the power to live the most incredible life possible. I know that my experience and skills allow me to help others break through their own barriers to loving themselves, following their intuition and embracing change.
I’ve seen it, every week I see the change that happens when you connect with your soul and whats true for you!
Faking is hard work! its exhausting! being you & following your soul gives you energy, it lightens you.
Lighten up with a kinesiology session!
